The Professional Development Service for Teachers (PDST) are delighted to offer a range of support to schools and teachers.  See www.pdst.ie for a detailed list of CPD opportunities.

The PDST works in close collaboration with the Education Centres Directors, so as to address the professional development needs in the region. Pivotal to our approach will be the enabling dimension of the support provided, which aims to empower schools toward self sufficiency and ongoing self evaluation.

Message from the PDST (24 October 2011)

We hope this letter finds you and your staff well as we approach the mid-term break. We are aware that expressions of interest for support were submitted by many of you and as explained in a recent letter we are endeavouring to address these requests in as much as our limited personnel will allow.  In the meantime we have put together a programme of professional development opportunities for teachers in conjunction with our education centre partners in Dublin West, Kildare and Blackrock. Please find enclosed a poster outlining a range of supports on offer over the coming months. We would much appreciate your displaying this is a prominent place in your staff room.

As relayed to you in our previous letter, a major focus of PDST work in the immediate future will be the national delivery of leadership seminars in response to the launch of the Department of Education and Skills’ national strategy “Literacy and Numeracy for Learning and Life” (www.education.ie ). These seminars for school leaders will outline the main messages of the plan and provide initial guidance in the areas of school self evaluation, target setting and data analysis.
