Write a Book is a worthwhile and pleasant partnership venture between the Education Centre, Schools and Children. We invite all primary schools in our catchment to take part in this wonderful initiative.
This initiative gives children the opportunity to explore their creativity by writing in a variety of genres including stories, plays, poems.
The volume of books coming through Write-a-Book has increased considerably in the last few years and while we welcome this development and hope that such enthusiasm will continue, we need to continue with one restriction again this year. We hope that infant classes will continue to write books and we will supply schools with certificates so that they can hold internal award ceremonies but once again we are unable to accept entries from Junior or Senior Infant classes as we did previously - in effect the swapping stage and the external award ceremony stage are being removed in the case of these classes. We regret having to continue this restriction but it is inevitable in present circumstances.
This project facilitates teachers in incorporating the requirements of the 1999 Irish Primary School Curriculum into lesson plans by covering topics such as story writing.
In order to participate in the Write-a-Book Project, schools must register with Dublin West Education Centre no later than Friday, 8 February 2013.
The latest submission date for book entries to Dublin West Education Centre is 5pm on Thursday, 21 March 2013
The set of swapped books will be available for collection from the Centre on Wednesday, 1 May 2013 up to 5pm. This set must be returned to the Centre on or before Thursday, 16 May 2013 up to 5pm.
Presentation ceremonies will take place here in the Dublin West Education Centre on: Tuesday, 18th, Wednesday, 19th, Thursday, 20th and Friday, 22 June 2013.
