Why use the heart word method?
The heart word method focuses on integrating sight word instruction with phonics instruction. Students can use their sound and spelling pattern knowledge to decode many of the words on the lists of high-frequency words or “tricky words”. Students learn the words as a part of their phonics instruction rather than in isolation through rote memorisation.
