24AUT49 Making Sense of Autism Support with Mary Mc Kenna: How to be an effective Autism support teacher
As we leave summer behind and embrace the new school year, might it be time to access support that promises to attempt to bring more energy, ease and curiosity into your job for 2024-25?
DWESC presents a series of ‘How to’ webinars with Mary McKenna to support teachers to make sense of their role as Autism class teachers or SETs in the primary school setting.
Attend individual stand-alone webinars or follow several to qualify for inclusion in Mary’s Community of Practice (CoP) workshops run in-person twice-termly in DWESC.
1)How to be an effective Autism support teacher: ‘If a child can’t learn the way we teach, maybe we should teach the way they learn’ Ignacio Estrada (October 9th 2024)
2)How to include sensory and motor opportunities easefully into the everyday (November 13th 2024)
3)How to support communication development through the day (January 15th 2025)
4)How to struggle less and thrive more (February 12th 2025)
Mary’s enthusiasm for keeping things as simple as possible so that we conserve all our energy for the important stuff can be infectious. Keeping forensically focused on how we support each individual child to thrive can strip away a lot of the peripheral energy-wasters. Aligning our teaching style to the learning style of our pupils is key. We might just be our own best resource. Join Mary to explore ways in which this precious energy resource can be sustained.
This webinar is suitable for Primary School Leaders, Teachers, SETs, SNAs & Parents
