This Face-to-Face course taking place in Dublin West Education Support Centre, is designed to equip participants with innovative, evidence-based strategies and skills necessary to support students on their journey towards academic success. Our focus is on integrating the principles of positive education, understanding trauma and its impact on learning, and applying systems thinking to create nurturing educational environments.

Course Overview
The WellSchools Behaviour Masterclass is a comprehensive training program tailored for school leaders who are dedicated to making a difference in the lives of all students, especially those facing academic and social and emotional challenges. This course will provide participants with a deep understanding of how to create and maintain school environments that are not only conducive to learning but also supportive of the emotional and psychological well-being of students.

In today's rapidly changing educational landscape, the challenges faced by students are more complex than ever. Factors such as trauma, mental health issues, and diverse learning needs can significantly impact a student's ability to complete their schooling successfully. This masterclass aims to address these challenges by:

  • Empowering Participants with Knowledge: Gain a solid understanding of positive education, trauma-informed practices.
  • Developing Practical Skills: Learn how to apply polyvagal theory in school settings and create trauma-informed strategies, and use design thinking for educational innovation.
  • Fostering a Collaborative Learning Environment: Engage with peers and experts to share experiences, ideas, and best practices.

How Schools Will Benefit

  • Specialised Training in Trauma and Its Impact: School staff will learn key skills from experts to understand trauma's effects on brain development, anxiety, and sensory processing, enabling them to implement effective trauma-informed strategies for student well-being.
  • Strategies for Addressing School Avoidance: Educators will be trained to identify and address the underlying causes of school avoidance, such as anxiety, through tailored interventions that promote attendance and participation among at-risk students.
  • Ripple Effect on School Practices: Integrating these strategies into the school environment creates a supportive and inclusive culture, positively impacting overall school practices and the educational experience for all students.
