This face-to-face course supports teachers in understanding their central role in managing Special Educational Needs (SEN) through effective care planning and meaningful collaboration with Special Needs Assistants (SNAs). It explores how teachers lead the development and review of Pupil Care Plans within the Continuum of Support, with a focus on identifying and supporting primary care needs such as mobility, communication, medical needs, and sensory regulation. Participants will examine the distinct yet complementary roles of teachers and SNAs, and how this partnership promotes inclusion, independence, and access to the curriculum.
The course also offers practical strategies for building professional relationships, establishing collaborative routines, and holding effective conversations around the Pupil Care Plan. Emphasis is placed on communication, mutual respect, and the ongoing review of supports, ensuring the child’s needs remain at the centre of planning and practice.
