24SPR02 An Overview of the Learning Profile of Students with Down Syndrome at the Post-Primary School Stage
This webinar / seminar will support those working with students with Down syndrome at the post-primary school stage, in both mainstream and special settings.
- The rights of students to attend a school of their choice will be discussed along with the impact of their learning strengths and needs on their progress and development.
- The specific learning needs or learning profile of the student will be outlined; and implications for educators will be discussed.
- The importance of adapting the curriculum and differentiating teaching materials will be highlighted.
- An overview of junior cycle options, the student’s behaviour, social development and independence building will also be presented, and useful resources will be discussed.
Opportunities will be provided for Q & A and discussion.
The webinar will be facilitated by Fidelma Brady, Head of Education DSI with additional support provided by other colleagues in the Member Support Team DSI.
