25AUT55 Autism Series for SNAs: Student Voice: Hearing Autistic Perspectives

25AUT55 Autism Series for SNAs: Student Voice: Hearing Autistic Perspectives

Welcome to the Autism Series: A Compassionate and Practical Approach for SNAs and Teachers, a comprehensive professional development series designed to equip educators with the knowledge, language, and tools to better support autistic learners in inclusive educational settings.
This 10-part series is built on the foundation of empathy, evidence-based practice, and a deep commitment to student voice. Each webinar is thoughtfully aligned with best practice guidance from the NCSE Relate Programme and the Department of Education’s Understanding Behaviours of Concern document. These resources remind us that behaviour is a form of communication, emotional regulation is relational, and proactive support is key.
Autism is not a problem to be fixed—it’s a different way of experiencing the world. This series encourages educators to look beyond challenges and see the strengths, preferences, and needs of every child. It explores topics such as meltdowns, trauma, communication, executive function, and inclusion—always through the lens of relationship, respect, and regulation.
Whether you're a seasoned Special Needs Assistant, a classroom teacher, or a school leader, this series offers practical strategies you can apply immediately, while also inviting deeper reflection on your role as a compassionate advocate.
This is more than a training series - it’s an invitation to shift perspective, build inclusive environments, and be the adult who makes a difference.

Webinar 3:
Too often, decisions about autistic students are made without them. This webinar explores how SNAs can meaningfully include autistic student voice in planning, problem-solving, and daily routines. Drawing from neurodivergent advocacy and inclusive practice, we explore how to listen beyond words.

This webinar is suitable for Primary SNAs.

Please note that the Zoom link for this webinar will be emailed to you as soon as you register.
Tabhair faoi deara go seolfar an nasc Zoom don seimineár gréasáin seo chugat trí ríomhphost a luaithe a chláraíonn tú.
