26SPR100 Writing Effective Support Plans: Using SMART Targets to Improve Classroom Practice
This practical webinar supports teachers in developing effective, classroom-based support plans using SMART targets. Grounded in the Indicators of Effective Practice (2024), the session focuses on improving the quality of targets and success criteria so that they are clear, measurable, and meaningful within everyday classroom contexts. Participants will explore how to identify appropriate areas of need, gather and use classroom-based evidence (e.g. observation, ABC charts), and write targets that are achievable and responsive to pupils’ needs.
The session will also address how to monitor progress, apply appropriate reinforcement strategies, and ensure that support plans are embedded within whole-class practice. Particular attention will be given to ensuring consistency between targets, strategies, and outcomes so that plans are practical, manageable, and impactful.
